How Does Your Company Handle Video?

I was recently browsing an advertising forum Website and came across this discussion. It is a situation that we at KMK Media often come across when working with clients. A company wants to place video on their Website, but does not have the budget, technical resources or server bandwidth to do so. There are many options that we offer, but one of the more simple and cost affective solutions is to use YouTube. It certainly is not for everyone, but it is a great first option for companies wishing to start publishing video on their site. Read the dialogue below and see if you agree. How does your organization handle video?

“We would like to use more video at our company for communications, both with employees and clients. Unfortunately, our IT dept is saying that bandwidth is an issue and it would cost a bazillion dollars to set us up with the right technology and bandwidth to allow us to host streaming videos. Other than Youtube, how is everyone else handling video? I can’t believe it is this difficult. Thanks for any suggestions.”

Why not use YouTube?

It’s one of the most searched sites on the planet, and Google now places best YouTube results for keywords right on the first page.

Always provide a link from YouTube to your company website, perhaps even to specific landing pages in your company site that show how your company serves clients in the specific topic area of the video? e.g. say you are a general service law firm, and you do a little video on tips for setting up a new incorporated business. You could link from YouTube directly to the section of your company site that shows how you help businesses get their work done.

You can even embed the YouTube link to the video into your own site, so people browsing your site don’t even have to leave, they just view the video right there in your own company page.

Added bonus: YouTube plays really nicely with iPads/iPhones and most other mobile devices, while many self-hosted videos do not.
